TOKUYAMA Master Course 2026: Knowledge Exchange in Japan
From 18 to 20 May 2026, TOKUYAMA DENTAL welcomed international opinion leaders, lecturers and experienced practitioners from Europe, Australia and Japan to the TOKUYAMA Master Course in Tokyo. The three-day event provided a platform for scientific exchange, practical education and personal interaction. High-level lectures, intensive hands-on training sessions and exclusive insights into research and development once again made the Master Course a special meeting point for the international dental community.
Day 1: Bridging Science and Clinical Practice
The Master Course opened at the TOKUYAMA DENTAL Headquarters in Tokyo with welcoming remarks from Hirotaka Nishihara, President of TOKUYAMA DENTAL. Three leading Japanese experts in restorative dentistry then shared the latest scientific insights and clinical concepts.
The lecture programme started with Dr Tomohiro Takagaki, Lecturer at Science Tokyo, who presented modern universal adhesive systems and evidence-based cementation protocols for lithium disilicate and zirconia ceramics. His presentation focused on current approaches to material selection and reliable clinical procedures for indirect restorations.
Dr Noboru Takahashi, private practitioner in Tokyo and clinical lecturer at Science Tokyo, then presented innovative concepts for highly aesthetic direct composite restorations. He demonstrated how modern composite and adhesive materials can support efficient clinical workflows while achieving highly aesthetic results.
The lecture programme concluded with Prof Junji Tagami, a recognised expert in restorative dentistry. His presentation covered the fundamentals of modern direct composite restorations and highlighted the influence of current material developments on long-term successful aesthetic outcomes.
In addition to the scientific programme, the first day offered valuable opportunities for personal exchange. A visit to a traditional sumo wrestling event followed by a joint dinner brought the first day of the Master Course to a memorable close.
Day 2: Putting Knowledge into Practice
The second day focused on practical application. Under the guidance of Dr Noboru Takahashi, the clinical developer of the layering concept and shade system of ESTELITE ASTERIA, participants expanded their skills during a full-day hands-on course covering direct composite restorations in both anterior and posterior regions.
ESTELITE ASTERIA was used as the key material throughout the training. Thanks to its excellent optical properties, the composite enables a simplified two-layer technique while supporting highly aesthetic results. Participants were able to directly apply the demonstrated treatment concepts, practise different techniques and discuss clinical experiences and individual cases with the lecturer.
Day 3: Exploring Research and Sharing Experiences
The final day took participants to the TOKUYAMA DENTAL Research and Development Centre in Tsukuba. During an exclusive laboratory tour, participants gained insights into the development of advanced dental materials and current research projects.
Another highlight was the presentation of clinical cases by participants from Europe, Australia and Japan, followed by scientific discussions. The exchange of different clinical experiences, treatment concepts and perspectives from various regions underlined the international character of the Master Course and provided valuable inspiration for daily clinical practice.
The three-day Master Course concluded with a closing ceremony and a joint dinner. During the ceremony, all participants received their certificates, marking the successful completion of the programme and providing an opportunity to reflect on the inspiring experiences and exchanges of the past days.

The TOKUYAMA Master Course 2026 once again demonstrated the value of personal exchange between science, research and clinical practice. Scientifically based lectures, practical hands-on training and in-depth discussions made the event an inspiring platform for international professional education.
