Suitable polishers for composites from TOKUYAMA DENTAL

Our polishers are suitable for finishing and polishing all composites, but are specially designed for our composites with spherical fillers such as ESTELITE ASTERIA,
ESTELITE SIGMA QUICK and OMNICHROMA.

Dental polishers made of diamond grit or SiC/AIO

Our diamond polishers ensure a particularly smooth and shiny surface. Thanks to their high efficiency, they enable fast and effective polishing, which noticeably shortens the treatment time. Diamond polishers are very robust and have a longer service life. Our polishers for dentists made of silicon carbide (SiC) and aluminium oxide (AIO) are also known for their high-quality results, but the application time is slightly longer. Wear is higher and the abrasive needs to be replaced more regularly.

Aesthetic & functional results: shapes for every restoration job

Our polishers for dentists cover a wide range of applications. From polishing simple restorations to finalising complex ones, dentists and dental technicians will find various instruments for every individual application. The most common shapes include cup polishers, flame polishers, polishing discs, lamellar polishers and ball polishers.

  • Cup-shaped polishers enable even pressure distribution and are particularly well suited for polishing convex and larger surfaces.
  • Flame-shaped polishers taper towards the top and are ideal for hard-to-reach areas and precise work on fissures and interproximal spaces.
  • Disc polishers are very narrow and are used to work on smooth surfaces and edges, especially for inlays and onlays.
  • Lamellar polishers consist of flexible, radially arranged lamellae coated with abrasive or polishing agents and are suitable for working on all surface structures.
  • Ball polishers, on the other hand, are suitable for detailed work and polishing smaller areas or specific points.

Dental polishers: the advantages of polishing

Teeth polishing offers numerous advantages that go far beyond aesthetic appearance.

Protected surface

Polishing smooths rough areas and prevents bacteria and plaque from settling. It therefore protects the surface and reduces the risk of caries and gum inflammation.

Oral hygiene

Smooth surfaces feel very pleasant in the mouth and contribute to a feeling of hygiene and freshness in the patient's mouth.

Protection of antagonists

Professional tooth polishing not only protects the treated tooth itself, but also the opposing teeth (antagonists) from excessive abrasion. The smooth surface minimises friction between the teeth and thus protects the enamel.

Aesthetics

Dentists can use polishers to remove discolouration and restore the natural shine of the teeth.

FAQ

How should dentists use the polishers?

Ideally, the polishers should be moved across the surface in gentle circular motions. This prevents selective removal and ensures an even, consistent polishing result.

Are the polishers reusable?

Grinding and polishing tools for intraoral use that are not explicitly labelled as single-use items can be reused after proper reprocessing. Polishers that are labelled as single-use products must be reprocessed once before their first use. These instruments must then be disposed of properly.

How long do TOKUYAMA DENTAL polishers last?

The service life of grinding and polishing instruments is largely determined by various factors. These include the roughness of the initial surface, its hardness and the size of the area to be treated. The correct rotation speed and appropriate contact pressure also have a major influence on the durability of the products.

The following applies: Polishers must be replaced at the latest when the working area is almost completely worn away and the carrier becomes visible. Damaged or deformed instruments must not be used under any circumstances and must be discarded immediately.
